Drumroll please…. our first “after” photos are here! If you need a refresher on the “before” photos for our house, click here. We bought our 1926 bungalow in Nashville in March 2019, and I’m going room by room through our house renovating and redecorating. I’ll share each room as I finish them, one at a time! Our living room is the place we spend a lot of time when we’re home, and the place we do a lot of our entertaining, so it was important to me to get it finished first.

I know it’s September, but it’s technically still summer, y’all. Now, before you start throwing pumpkins at me, google it–fall officially begins on September 23rd (nerd alert!). But seriously, we’ve got to hang on to the last shreds of summer and long days when the sun stays up with you until late in the evening. […]

I got so busy on Friday that I wasn’t able to post my Friday Favorites… so here are my Sunday Favorites! Not nearly as catchy… or alliterative. Oh well. Tomorrow is Labor Day, which means there are tons of great sales happening right now, especially in home goods. I’ve put together a list of my […]

It’s been a couple weeks due to 1) vacation and 2) not having my life together enough to post a blog post, but I’M BACK. It’s time for my weekly roundup of some of my favorite things from around the internet and Nashville–enjoy! In case you missed it, I posted this Sourdough Strawberry Shortcake recipe […]

This sourdough strawberry shortcake recipe balances the sweetness of ice cream and strawberries perfectly with a hearty, slightly-sweet and tangy sourdough biscuit base.

Today’s the day! We’re flying to Fargo, ND this morning, which is Jonny’s hometown. We’re going to spend a couple days there for his cousin’s wedding, and then load up the cars with coolers and floaties and lots of La Croix for a week at the lake in Minnesota. Apparently in that part of the Midwest, pretty much everyone spends a good chunk of their summers at their respective lake houses or family lake cabins. This isn’t something I grew up with in Nashville, but I am HERE for it.

I feel like this could be a book rather than a blog post… but I got so many questions about our music room yesterday after I posted a sneak peek on Instagram that I decided to answer all of your questions in one blog post. When decorating your home using musical instruments, it’s important to […]

I’m going to make this argument: We’re NOT meant to hustle. We’re meant to work hard, passionately, and fearlessly, but we’re also meant to settle in, rest, and absorb all of the good there is to have in life. I think I’m anti-hustle. It even makes me anxious to type that, because for so long I’ve found my identity in the words that people say about me; “I think you work harder than anyone I know” or “Do you ever take a break? You seem to be constantly working or doing something. You have so much energy” OR THIS ONE: “You have your life together more than anyone else I know” (That one had to be an exaggeration…) I loved being that person.

Lacing up for a new adventure! We’re going to Germany for our anniversary! Jonny found us great tickets on a sale, so on a whim we decided to plan a trip to Munich (and possibly a detour to Zurich) this November for our first wedding anniversary, which just so happens to be a week before […]

This recipe is so light and tart, and it’s perfect for these incredibly hot and humid summer evenings. The basil adds a little spice to the cherries’ tartness, and I think it pairs well with a piece of very dark chocolate.
