Y’all. The bathroom is DONE. I’m so happy with how it all turned out, but I might be just as happy that it’s done. I don’t recommend being pregnant, working long hours, renovating two historic houses, AND renovating a bathroom in your own home. That being said… I’m glad we did it. I’m also very […]
Just ONE week until this bathroom is finished! Actually, less than that… but one week until the final reveal! Since we announced our pregnancy last week, I’m sure you can understand that I’m very ready for this bathroom to be done… so we can start on the nursery! But really, I need a break between […]

Welcome back, y’all! In case you missed the earlier updates, click below to see them: Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 This week’s update is all about some in-between work that’s important, but not very glamorous. Well, folks, we’re making progress! If you missed the first week of this project, click here. For week two, click here. When planning this bathroom, I wanted a vanity with a vintage feel, and I loved the idea of a console sink. We needed more storage than a console sink would give us, so I […]
We’re back from our family vacation to New England, and ready to get back into the swing of things with this bathroom! In case you missed it, here’s the first week of the One Room Challenge I posted last week. The next step in this bathroom makeover was demo. Here’s where this becomes an “if […]
We’re back, y’all! Well… technically Jonny and I are roadtripping through New England at the moment… but we’ve been working on a brand new One Room Challenge to show to you! This is our third ORC–click here to see our first, our Laundry Room Makeover, and our second, our Front Porch Makeover. We took this […]
When we started this whole ORC project, the thing that made us most excited was building a daybed swing. They always look so inviting, and like you could take a nap and listen to the breeze on an early summer afternoon. Not late summer though… at least not in Tennessee. That’s AC on full blast, how-little-clothing-can-I-wear-and-still-look-professional kind of weather.
I decided that I wanted a Haint blue porch ceiling. For those of y’all who aren’t from the south, you might not know what Haint blue means. Just like the houses I love so much, blue porch ceilings tell a story. Their history in the south goes back hundreds of years, and is filled with superstition, ghosts, and old wives’ tales, just as any good story should be. There are many guesses as to the why behind painting a porch ceiling blue, and I’m sure that the reasons are as regional as the hues.
