The air and leaves are getting crisp, Halloween decorations are coming out, but the real seasonal change for me comes when I start making my morning lattes hot again instead of iced like I do all summer. I love fall (who doesn’t?) even though in Nashville it’s still warm and will be for a while. My husband grew up in Fargo, ND, so he thinks of Halloween as a winter holiday because it’s usually snowy already there. Not so in Nashville! We’ve got all season long to sweat in our sweaters and toast with our pumpkin seeds.
Despite the warm weather, I’m excited for fall, and I love the idea of making a seasonal “bucket list” to make sure I prioritize doing fun seasonal things with my friends and family. I got this idea from A Beautiful Mess, and have been doing it seasonally here and there for a few years now. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of each season, especially during the holidays, and this helps me remember to make these memories with my daughter (she’s just one, but I’LL remember).
I like to keep this realistic and simple. I’ll include things that are already on the calendar, too, because the anticipation is almost as good as the actual event.
This year, my bucket list is:
Bake pumpkin muffins
Bake something with my daughter
Go to a pumpkin patch
Carve pumpkins
Dress up for Halloween
Trick-or-Treat
Hike when the leaves are at their peak
Go camping
Go for bike rides on the greenway
Collect leaves with my toddler
Visit Cheekwood for their Harvest
Make S’mores over a campfire
Watch cozy/spooky movies
Am I missing anything? The rules here are nonexistent–if you decide to join me in making a bucket list, I’d love to hear yours!
