Just ONE week until this bathroom is finished! Actually, less than that… but one week until the final reveal!
Since we announced our pregnancy last week, I’m sure you can understand that I’m very ready for this bathroom to be done… so we can start on the nursery! But really, I need a break between these projects. Pregnancy fatigue is no joke. Ya girl is TIRED.
This week’s updates are where you can really see the finish line, and the things that I really think make this room. Signature Hardware gifted all of the new plumbing trim and the sconces for this bathroom (thank you, Signature Hardware!) and let me tell you, they’re perfect here!
I wanted this bathroom to have a collected look, so I chose to mix metals in order to help it feel like the pieces had been curated over a longer period of time. The sconces are aged brass from Signature Hardware, the vanity’s original pulls are all brass, the door handle is crystal and unlacquered brass, and all of the plumbing trim is polished nickel. Next week you’ll see the towel hooks and other final details, which are mostly brass as well.
We had the vanity top cut by a local stone fabricator from a marble remnant they had on hand. I love the veining here, and I love that it’s not the trendy more modern marble with bold veining (though I love that too), but has more of a cloudy look that I think complements the antique dresser well. I chose an ogee edge and custom 2 cm backsplash to give it a more traditional feel as well. During the install, the stone installers cracked the vanity top when drilling the faucet holes, but they were amazing about it and had replaced it with the same stone just a week later.
The faucet I chose has a lower profile and cross handles that say “hot” and “cold” on the porcelain–I’m a sucker for details like that. Jonny and I both found that all of the Signature Hardware items had a great weight and feel so nice when you use them.
I knew this was going to be a kid bathroom (in the not-too-distant future!) as well as our guest bathroom and the only tub in the house, so it needed to be functional, pretty, and a little bit of a retreat as well. I’m so glad we opted for a shower bar and 10″ rain shower head in the shower because it makes it feel beautiful while still providing the usability of a handheld shower for hosing off kids and dogs.
I love how the polished nickel and brass contrast here, and I’m SO excited to share the finished and styled room with you all later this week!
